Brix
Studios, 1 & 2 Bedrooms; 494 to 1389 Sq. Feet
$275,000-750,000

Like Capitol Hill, Brix is about options. Combining northwest modernism (big windows, open floor plans) with big-city brick facades, Brix offers multiple floor plans in two distinctly different buildings: The sleek sophistication of Broadway Avenue East, or the lofts and townhouses of 10th Avenue East and East Mercer Street.

Contemporary design competes with expansive windows that frame city views and capture tons of sun. In some homes, ceilings soar to more than 15 feet. Gleaming chrome, cool stone, and rich wood give texture to modern interiors that set you apart without setting you on edge. Choose optional dens, balconies, and more.

Choose from traditional two-floor townhomes or the airiness of a two-story loft. All feature supersized windows and exposed beams accented with metal car decking for an aesthetic that is signature Seattle. Rich finishes create a sophisticated warmth that encourages entertaining or just getting centered. Choose floor plans with dens, decks, and more.

Relax in the grassy, tree-lined courtyard modeled on the gardens of Capitol Hill mansions. Tucked away from the hum of Broadway, with a fountain trickling among its plantings, it's your very own "secret garden."

When you're feeling social, Brix's rooftop patio makes it easy to host friends al fresco. Broadway, the downtown skyline, and surrounding neighborhoods spread out before you, an endlessly watchable backdrop.

The Seattle Hotel Group has proposed 21-story hotel and condominium project at First Avenue and Union Street. Construction may start around the end of 2006, and the hotel and condos could be ready for occupancy in the second half of 2007. The Four Seasons had been looking for a way back into the Seattle market ever since it lost the management contract for the Olympic Hotel, which it had operated since 1982. Another Toronto company, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, bought the Olympic last year and took over management. The $100 million-plus tower will have 150 hotel rooms and 50 condominiums. According to the developer the restaurant, which will be managed by Four Seasons, will have a "library-living room feel," and take advantage of the site's Elliott Bay views. The luxury hotel will feature such details as a fireplace in each room.
